Publisher's Synopsis
The present volume contains linguistic, philological and cultural studies concerning Sardinian and its varieties. All studies in this volume offer precious insights in the use and function of Sardinian in a dynamic situation of multilingualism. The first part focusses on linguistics and discusses, under various approaches, issues regarding historical sociolinguistics, Sardinian phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics as well as the edition of a manuscript. The second part concentrates on plurilinguism in the Sardinian novel and theatre as well as in the Sardinian film. After its first tentative beginnings (already present in Grazia Deledda) plurilinguism, in a context of international success of Sardinian novels and cinema, becomes more and more visible.
