Onyinye's Choice
I felt like an eaglet whose egg mistakenly rolled and cracked among a hen's eggs all my life. Clucking with her chicks, I felt gawky and unfit among the lively bunch. Above me were birds I could soar higher up in the sky than if I spread my wings and glided like them. A few of them resembled me and soared as I should. Failed and humbled in every way possible among the winged species that tread on the earth, it was time I tried my wings on the higher realm that my heart sought more than breath. Try, I must, even if it kills me. Death was better than unspread wings.
