Publisher's Synopsis
When the Chicago Tribune's "Betrayal" series was published, change was promised in the Chicago Public Schools system. When Samantha Miller, a dedicated employee working in the Information Technology Services department, was assaulted by her supervisor, she came forward within days and was told that she would be supported. The days, weeks, and months following are the subject of this book which also includes a tell-all account of past traumas, including physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse of past partners and family members. During this summer, while living one panic attack to the next, Samantha started writing down all the things she witnessed at Chicago Public Schools, including the inequities across the district, violations of Child Internet Protection laws, and how Chicago Public Schools attempted to shame her into silence.Since announcing she was writing this book, Chicago Public Schools has sent her two cease and desist notices all for saying that it happened. Now, determined to get the truth out there, she is self publishing this book as the City of Chicago's very own Me Too moment. This is the book that Chicago Public Schools doesn't want you to read. Inside this autobiographical account you will find essays that attempt to explain her past, what happened to her this summer, and the different stands she has tried to make with Chicago Public Schools. Included in this book are philosophical essays reflecting on her life so far, including gender politics, child abuse, and about living one day at a time.
