Travis shares how he has visual and audio hallucinations causing him to see and hear things that are not real and that other people do not see or hear. Travis shares the daily struggle of living with Schizophrenia and hearing all of these voices and seeing all of these people talking to him. Sometimes Travis sees real people that he knows in his hallucinations and this causes him great confusion. Travis shares how the voices and visual hallucinations try to get him to harm himself as punishment for having autism. The voices are very real to Travis and he tries really hard to fight them off. Travis sometimes self-harms as the voices are so loud and overwhelming and he must give into them. Travis shares how he hears people on television shows like the news talking to him.Travis thinks that the news anchors have a special message for him and are trying to tell him that other people are out to get him. Travis loses touch with reality often and this is very scary and confusing for him. He explains how his brain is much like a movie or video game playing in his mind. Travis has a hard time telling what is real or not real when he is experiencing psychosis. Travis hopes that by reading this book other people can understand him and others like him more. Travis tells about how he has doctors that are not real telling him to perform operations on himself and harm himself. Dr. Stankaski told Travis that he needed to do surgery on his Thyroid and remove his Thyroid so that he could get rid of some cancer that he had. He tried to cut his own Thyroid out and this caused everyone in his family a big scare. Travis takes medication every day both morning and night to help him cope with the voices and hallucinations that he has. Without the medicine Travis thinks he would be dead. A lot of times the voices and hallucinations try and get Travis to self-harm and cut. They even try to tell him he needs to light himself on fire on occasion. Without medicine Travis fears that he would do some of the terrible things to himself the voices tell him to do but when he is on medication he does not seem to believe the voices and hallucinations even though he still has them. This is a great book explaining what it can be like for someone to live with Schizophrenia and hear constant voices and see people that others do not hear or see.
