Publisher's Synopsis
This is an educational personal CASE tool for purchase and use by students on their own home computer or in a lab. Designed for small projects and cases typically found in textbooks or class projects, it aims to provide the "feel" of a commercial CASE tool without the complexity and long learning curve of professional software, allowing students to focus on the analysis problem rather than on the software. Functional process modelling rules and data modelling concepts and techniques are built-in; they are learned as HAT informs students of an error.;The concept of process re-engineering can be introduced by using standard DFD techniques to illustrate information bottlenecks and process redundancy and methods of eliminating them. Systems analysis problems can be created by typing it into the HAT narrative window in various ways: the problem may consist of only text in the narrative window, or it may include fragments of a model as a form of hint to the student, or it may be a complete model the student can explore via the hypertext links, data dictionary and browser.
