The matter is arranged in three columns, via, first the English words or sentences, then the Hungarian translation, and third, the phonetic pronunciation of the Hungarian words. In the conversations the aim has been to give the colloquial equivalent in Hungarian, rather than the literal translation of the English. The pronunciation given in the third column is in accordance with Marlborough's system of phonetics. This system is the outcome of long experience, and is of so simple a nature that it enables anyone who knows English, however strange to the Hungarian language, to read O?' the words at a glance, and easily make himself understood amongst Hungarians, with the minimum of trouble in mastering the system.
