Human Anatomy Lab Manual is meant to serve three purposes. First and foremost, this is a medically accurate human anatomy lab manual that does not use gendered language to discuss biology. Instead of relying on presumptive, prejudicial, and often inaccurate gender terms as short hand for body parts, it sticks to discussion of the parts themselves. As medical professionals and educators, this practice is more inclusive of the whole patient population and respectful of people's identity. Secondly, this book is meant to help undergraduate students prepare for the rigors of a graduate or professional anatomy class by helping them learn important skills and behaviors to further that end. Each chapter has not only content material arranged in a regional manner, but a corresponding discussion of systems anatomy and patterns or concepts that the student should keep in mind, and practices to help the student practice these new skills and terms. Finally, this book is meant to shift the discussion of anatomy from one of a static memorization heavy discipline to one that involves critical thinking and is a science in all meanings of the word.
