Publisher's Synopsis
How to survive in 'Da Hood' as an outsider is a mini-biography, or you could say 'snap shots', of various perspectives I had and held during my time in such a place. This book is a real-life look into how someone who is not from an urban center tries to make sense of their newfound environment within their own mind. In this book, I, the author, am basically commenting on my own previous journal posts to bring more clarity to what I 'meant at the time' when the journal post was originally written.
This is a book full of contrasts and comparisons of people, habits and places, but most of all written to be a guide to others of what to look out for and expect should one suddenly find themselves (due to fiscal hardship or what has become the new economic reality for many.) living in and or around 'The Hood', and or those with a 'hood' mentality.
How to survive in 'Da Hood' as an outsider is not scientific; rather it's observational in its approach in contrasting and comparing one value system to that of another. I must also add that I am a person of color, or some would prefer the term 'Black', that being stated the sentiment expressed in this book are done solely on the basis of behavior, style and culture, and not racial bigotry. It's a book that all can learn from. This book will provide confirmation to many, and self-reflection for others, either way, it's simply one person's real-life view of how to survive in 'da hood', as an outsider.
