Publisher's Synopsis
In 1968, while an 11th grader, the author started collecting sayings, quotes, and bits of wisdom. Over the years, since then, he has generated some of his own. Recently, he has also started writing poetry for his YouTube channel, Cal Shrock, which is mostly short videos less than a minute long. This has been quite gratifying and this book is an effort to share these writings in print.
About the Title - How Full is Your Bucket? This work is an effort by the author to fill up his bucket. Perhaps a story can explain. Consider the water haulers. We stand aside, watching a strange procession. One struggles past desperately trying, perhaps a little unsuccessfully, to balance a little water in a teaspoon. "What are you doing?" we ask."I'm carrying water in this teaspoon," is the simple reply.
The next one, with intense interest, bears his cup of water faithfully along. "What are you doing?" we ask again.
"I'm carrying water in this cup," comes the same reply.
A third carries a bucket of water, struggling with its weight. And again, we ask, "What are you doing?"
"Trying to carry this water."
Along comes a fourth with a wheel barrow. "What are you doing?"
"Hauling water," the driver smiles.
"It looks empty," we comment, incredulously.
"Oh, there's water in there, alright. I've got more than all the others combined."
"It just covers the bottom!" our voice betrays our surprise.
And so it goes. Some of us ease through life, proud of our many abilities, doing a little here, a little there. Self looks so good next to the little ones around us. But let us remember those haunting words, ". . . unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: " Luke 12:48. The Measure of the Mind When all are measured, after all,
It may be seen that of them all,
The greatest ones among them all,
Were thought to be the least of all. It makes me wonder-how full is my bucket? What am I doing with what God has given me? Am I sitting on these thoughts, treasuring every morsel as if they were my own? or am I sharing them? How Full is Your Bucket? is a sample of what I have received. I'd like to share these things with you, and may this book prove a blessing to each one.
