Publisher's Synopsis
People have many various and different ideas about God, particularly about who or what He is and how he behaves. There are ideas about God that range from a control freak to a distant spirit that doesn't relate to anything; from a model for human despotic dictatorship, to a loving "teddy bear." As far as I have been able to determine, no one has met with God face-to-face and lived to tell about what kind of personality and character God has. If they did meet with him face-to-face they probably were not concerned with that kind of analysis, fear does all kinds of funny things to our minds. We are left with the Bible, our only written record of what God has done and how people have related to him. The real issue is what does God have to say about himself? Is there anything stated in the Bible that would give us a word picture of God's personality and character, a description of how he does things and why? And is there anything stated in the Bible that tells us how we are to behave toward him? The Bible tells us that God is a great king, sovereign over the entire universe. People want to think of God in terms of themselves so they can understand him. In this book we will examine what is stated about God's sovereignty, and his ways and whys of doing things so that we can understand his side of the relationship he wants us to have with him.
