Publisher's Synopsis
This publication provides estimates of patterns of personal disposable income in the United Kingdom, and of changes over time. As the title would suggest, it reports on the lower part of the income distribution. It does not cover the whole population of the UK - important exclusions being people in residential institutions, and homeless people in bed and breakfast accommodation or living rough. The information is derived mainly from the Family Expenditure Survey, a continuous survey which interviews a sample of the population living in households.
