Over the years the increase in the number of owner-occupiers and the rise in house values has resulted in a substantial growth in inheritance estates - both in quantity and value. In turn this could have powerful effects on spending, home ownership and the economy. To investigate the effects of transmission by bequest and inheritance of wealth accumulated through home ownership, information is required about inheritances and their uses and about ownership of house property and financial assets. This survey and research study does this, and looks at the future impact of property inheritance.
