Publisher's Synopsis
A volume of papers taken from the 14th Congress of the European Association of Urology in Stockholm. This symposium investigated the role of endocrine treatment in early prostate cancer, discussing the natural history of the disease and the impact of endocrine treatment options such as immediate versus deferred treatment and adjuvant treatment. In addition, quality of life issues were discussed as these issues will possibly be of greater importance to patients with early prostate cancer who will be diagnosed at a younger age and be treated for a longer period of time than those with advanced disease. Case histories (presented by Professor Wirth, Mr Anderson and Dr Iversen) were used to illustrate some of the issues surrounding the treatment of early prostate cancer.
