Publisher's Synopsis
The Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Lisnaskea in County Fermanagh is an important source for twentieth century history of Irish Catholicism. Although created it the late 1890s, it contains graves of Catholics from across the county. Its graves reflect the general wealth of Lisnaskea which was once the largest urban centre in the county.
In 2017 we surveyed the cemetery, and photographed all of the gravestones. We have presented the inscriptions from the funerary monuments in situ, keying each name on them to the maps and the index at the end of the book. Along with maps, we have included photographs of the church and the cemetery, as well as providing a series of color plates which depict various styles of tombstones that we have encountered in Irish graveyards; they serve as a visual glossary for our descriptions of the gravestones. 188 pages.
