The meeting was attended by some of the most intelligent citizens of Lancaster, and the subject was fully and freely discussed, after which committees were appointed.
In accordance with previous arrange ments, meetings were held on Pebru ary 4 and June 18, 1829. Through the efforts of those at the head of the movement these meetings were largely attended. The object -of the Society was explained and rules and regulations discussed. After a very general interchange of views, the meeting of June 18 adjourned to meet again on the 8th of July.
