I spent much of this day in transiently reading the report of the trial in the Supreme Court of the United States of the case of Edward Prigg against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, otherwise called the Fugitive Slave case - seven judges, everyone of them dissenting from the reasoning of all the rest, and everyone of them coming to the same con elusion - the transcendant omnipotence of slavery in these United States, riveted by a clause in the Constitution.
