Excerpt from History of the Descendants of Mathias Slaymaker: Who Emigrated From Germany and Settled in the Eastern Part of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, About 1710
Some years ago I started to compile a history of Mathias Schleiermacher and his numerous descendants for my own satisfaction, little dreaming what a task I had ahead of me, and while gradually proceeding with the work, I had a num ber of inquiries from different persons if they could secure copies when completed, and also had the suggestion, why not have it put in book form for sale, which I have decided to do.
