Beginning in the 1920s, Serbia was an integral part of Yugoslavia (meaning "Land of the South Slavs"), which included the modern countries of Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro.
