It was at the same epoch. (s. C. 1600 or perhape previously, that the Iberian tribes of the Sicani and the Ligor� passed from Spain into Gaul and Italy; in which latter country, as in Spain, the Gaula attacked them, and cross ing the Alps 1400-1000) under the desia nation of Ambra, (the valiant, ) confined the Ligures within the mountainous coast from the Rhone to the Arno, while they drove the Si cani as far as Calabria and Sicily.
