In order to keep all the volumes of this work as far as possible of the same size, it has been considered necessary to issue another volume, which will embrace Italian painting of the seven teenth and part of the eighteenth centuries, so that the four volumes will complete this survey of painting from ancient historical times down to the eighteenth century in Italy.
