Publisher's Synopsis
This bibliography, divided by topic into 15 sections, spans more than 70 years of reading research and includes works selected for their relevance to the history of reading. The volume aims to show that many of the reading issues facing modern classroom teachers also concerned educators of the past, and although teaching methods and materials have changed, there remain threads and themes that have been evident in reading education since the earliest days. It intends to expand professional knowledge and draw upon the work of predecessors to improve teaching practice in the 21st century.
