Publisher's Synopsis
April 1986 saw the submission of the Nobel Prize-winning Bednorz-Muller paper. This resulted in a growth of research into superconductivity. Progress in the field in the two years since the Bednorz-Muller paper was the topic of an international conference held at the University of Alabama on the second anniversary of the article's submission. This book presents the proceedings of that conference, and the contributors examine advances made in the physics, chemistry and processing of new materials. They assess future scientific, engineering and policy possibilities.
