Publisher's Synopsis
This easy-to-use book focuses on academic interventions for children who have problems learning. The interventions are based upon the Planning, Attention, Simultaneous, Successive (PASS) theory developed by Naglieri. The book describes the theory and illustrates how to apply the interventions in the book. The interventions are designed for working with students ages 5-17, with an emphasis on ages 8-14. The second section of the book includes approximately 50 handouts designed to be given to teachers and parents by the school psychologist. The handouts cover a variety of skills related to general academic tasks, such as paying attention and listening, and specific subject areas, such as reading and writing. Each handout contains background on the skill, a description of the intervention, an explanation of which children should use the intervention, and a description of how to apply the intervention in the classroom. All of these handouts are photocopiable.
