Publisher's Synopsis
This monograph deals with heats of vaporization of pure substances and mixtures with an emphasis placed on organic fluids. Thermodynamic relationships between the heats of vaporization and vapour pressures, heat capacities, phase compositions and pVT properties are given. On the basis of these relationships, different ways of determining heats of vaporizations and their main applications are described. This book is the first to cover the thermodynamics of vapour-liquid equilibria comprehensively from the point of view of energetics. It provides a balanced account of all means for determining heats of vaporization, from calorimentric methods through calculations from related quantities and from semi-empirical generalized relationships to pure empirical formulae. Concrete relationships are given for practical calculations together with illustrative examples and recommendations. A great many of the procedures can be applied only using the information contained in the book. References are given to the sources of input data for calculations, with brief characterization - an approach useful for chemical engineers.
