This text examines the use of practical techniques to implement process safety in new and existing plants. The author's own incident scenario model enables selection of a suitable hazard identification technique for the case in hand. The technique may be one of the pre-Hazop techniques Concept Hazard Analysis and Preliminary Process Hazard Analysis, both of which are explained in detail, or one of the better-known Hazop, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis or Task Analysis.
