Hauptwerke Politischer Kunst Im 20. Jahrhundert Icons of 20Th-Century Political Art

English summary: The authors of this volume use a more methodological approach from the critical fine arts to interpret significant 20th century works of political art. They delve into these works' respective incentives, political-aesthetic intentions, history of reception and effect on the contemporary world. A deliberately slight deviation from the conventional canon thereby creates a representative tableau of political art ranging from the function of agitational intervention to reflexive forms of aesthetic encryption. Also included are works from the last third of the century, localised within the context of a feminist awakening and post-colonial critique of imperialistic structures that continue to have an effect today. Works by Kathe Kollwitz, Otto Dix, David Alfaro Siqueiros, John Heartfield, Pablo Picasso, Andre Fougeron, Asger Jorn, Martha Rosler, Edward Kienholz, Willi Sitte, Faith Ringgold, Hans Haacke and Allan Sekula are analysed. German description: Vom methodischen Ansatz einer kritischen Kunstwissenschaft aus interpretieren die Autoren bedeutende Werke politischer Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts. In den Blick genommen wird dabei ihr jeweiliger Anlass, ihre politisch-asthetische Intention, ihre zeitgenossische Wirkung und die Rezeptionsgeschichte. So entsteht, bei bewusst leichter Abweichung vom herkommlichen Kanon, ein reprasentatives Tableau einer politischen Kunst, die von der Funktion agitatorischer Intervention bis zu reflexiven Formen einer asthetischen Verschlusselung reicht.
