Über die allgemeinen Grundsatze, die mich bei der Bearbeitung geleitet haben, wird das Vorwort zum ersten Band hinreichend Aufschlu'ß erteilen, ich darf mich darauf beziehen, wiederhole aber noch ausdrück lich, daß für mich die Bedürfnisse und die Vorbildung geographischer Leser maßgebend geblieben sind: fur Physiker oder Mathematiker von Fach ist das Buch nicht bestimmt.
