Zur Vereinigung der Spalte im harten Gaumen kann nichts geschehen. Man hat einen anhaltenden Druck auf die beiden Oberkieferbeine vermittelst einer bügelartigen Vor richtung anempfohlen. Schliesst die Natur diese Spalte nicht, so kann man die Beschwerden mindern durch einen Schwamm, welcher in dieselbe passt und auf einer silbernen oder ledernen Platte befestigt ist.
