Gutters Dressed As Gold is a story following the protagonist Oscar in his ventures through the supernatural while being grounded in the insanity of the modern world. It's a coming of age story through lost love and incarceration amongst other things. Violently thrown through his psyche and swallowed into the belly of the underworld Oscar is reborn as he is spit out. It weaves dream-like states into the cold bitter realities of substance abuse and mental illness. It starts comparing addiction to unrequited love of a bittersweet love that has long since passed away. Along with hallucinations of shadow beings and unadulterated violence one gets the sense of the bleak reality of an addict at war with his very sense of self. A paranormal and supernatural journey through the mind of a schizophrenic addict and his road to recovery.
