Publisher's Synopsis

This new textbook will prove beneficial as a beginner's book for all learners of Greek. It is particularly suitable for pupils who are planning to attempt Level 1 of the new Greek Common Entrance examination. The book contains all the required grammar and vocabulary for this Level, as well as extensive language notes and practice. It has been written in an attempt to produce a modern, concise and affordable resource for existing and potential Greek teachers. Grammar and vocabulary are introduced and explained in a clear and logical manner over the course of fifteen chapters. No previous knowledge of Greek is assumed or required. It is hoped that the format of the book will lend itself particularly well to teachers running a one-year Common Entrance course on a limited timetable. All aspects of the new Common Entrance examination are explained in detail. The book provides copious amounts of practice questions, including unseen translations and a sample Common Entrance Level 1 paper. The format of the book also lends itself well to regular extracurricular classes with appropriate pupils.
