This volume brings together various text publications and studies. The main accent is on juridical texts and researches, but the day-to-day reality behind those texts is occasionally brought to the fore. However, whether in "The Wardrobe of an Egyptian Bride" or in "Registration of Demotic Contracts", the recurrent theme is the search for a complete picture of ancient society using a combination of Greek and demotic evidence. The majority of the work originates from the Ptolemaic period, but the scope of the volume is widened with an early Greek translation of a demotic contract of sale.
