Publisher's Synopsis
As the first-born granddaughter, my fondest memories are in the kitchen with my grandmother and my mother. When I was young, I was drawn to the kitchen by the smell of cinnamon, pumpkin, and chocolate in the air. In grandmother's kitchen, I would climb up on the red and chrome stool and watch my grandmother move about with grace and precision. I can't lie, my motive was to taste the delicious flavors. As she walked by, she would give me a spoonful of what she was making. This feeling is the inspiration for Grammy's Special Treats Cookbook. I share recipes and memories which have been handed down in my family from generation to generation. I created the book as a tribute to my family. Wendy Kerr Sherid is also known for the Grammy's Superhero Series of children books. Imagine learning firsthand the important role a Seeing Eye(R) dog serves for their blind partner. In each book, the reader will experience the world of a service dog while enjoying the real-life adventures of Grammy and her grandchildren, Emily, Callen and Jacob. As a child reads the entire series, they are immersed into a one of a kind book on how a Seeing Eye dog does their work as the "eyes" for their partner, and how the partner learns to work with the Seeing Eye dog. It is the heartfelt journey of unconditional love at the most basic level. The series is a wonderful tool for teachers and parents to help engage their children in human compassion and socially correct skills. The Grammy's Superhero Series includes nine books. The first six books have been released, and three more books will be released in 2020. The book is designed for elementary age children, with a 4th grade reading level. The book contains 28-32 pages of vivid, artistic and captivating pictures, along with a "Let's talk about this book..." page. The book can be purchased in paperback, Braille and Kindle.
