Publisher's Synopsis
God Is, That's Why I Am! is a personal testimony of my life. Growing up as a young adult raised in a Christian home, I experienced life as a God-fearing woman. This journey begins in my hometown of Henderson, North Carolina, in the early forties. I lived through segregation and injustice of Black people as a child but didn't fully understand the impact on our people until I was much older. This book depicts my life, as I knew it-from a mere child in the south to a mature woman in the north. At some point, I was disconnected from God's purpose for me. It was not until I lost my mother that I began to fully understand the path God had for me. My eyes were open and my ears could hear the Lord but I rejected it. I walked many paths trying to pursue my career. But God had another plan for me. I hope my testimony will encourage young people to open their hearts to the power of God. I was born in Henderson, North Carolina, on August 17, 1943 to Emma Satterwhite and John Edward Jones. I was raised in the south until the age of ten and then moved to New York City. My educational background includes a music degree from New York College of Music, a funeral director's license from American Academy McAllister Mortuary School of Embalming, ordination as a chaplain from Fordham University and currently in school pursuing a degree in Theology from Union Seminary. I reside in Brooklyn, NY with my second husband Harry Lewis and spend time with my children and grand children.
