The term 'glocal' - a combination of 'global' and 'local' - emphasizes multi-scale views in dealing with global and local problems or activities. It is key to the improvement of environmental education. Global environmental problems - such as global warming, resource problems, and population concerns - are becoming increasingly serious. There still exists a wide gap between serious global environmental situations and the reality of environmental education. Environmental education tends to be characterized by local to national conditions/politics. This book examines the practices related to environmental education in the world, proposing rational ways to proceed. Many of the papers were presented at the 'International Symposium on Glocal Environmental Education, 2008,' however they have been extended and re-written substantially for this book. Additionally, some new papers have been incorporated.
