Publisher's Synopsis
The proceedings contain a collection of 34 papers providing a representative overview of major issues and perspectives in WCRP and IGBP research, and the potential benefits of space observations. Papers describe results of satellite data or field experiment analysis as well as modeling efforts. Sections cover topics on middle atmosphere change, enhanced greenhouse effect detection, large-scale physical/biological processes in the ocean, at the ocean-atmosphere and at the soil-atmosphere interfaces, energy and water balance parameters, management of global data sets, and provide an up-to-date review of major space agencies plans and capabilities of new spaceborne instrumentation for the coming ten years.
