Give Chess a Chance was conceived as a step-by-step instructor on how to play Chess for beginners of any age, but specially for elementary school children. There are examples to help understand the movement, power, and best placement of pieces, and exercises to verify the learning process. The concepts of Strategy and Tactics, introduced in Chapter 2, and enriched in the next two chapters, are the guide that give unity to the Series. Some general advice about the three phases of the game provides a bridge between the chapters. Simultaneously, the different schools of chess are introduced chronologically to help the student transition from a foundational level to a higher level. This is an original approach from the authors, based on their pedagogical experience with students from elementary school to high school as well as training of first-category players.
