Publisher's Synopsis
From a company's point of view, a productive relationship with higher education can make a major contribution to its competitive position. Companies in the 1990s will find that the highly educated people they increasingly need will be in short supply - amongst those new graduates who do enter the job market will be people who are older and who have backgrounds other than those traditionally selected by business. This change will mean that companies will have to reasses how they attract, select and retain the well qualified people they need. This booklet is designed to help those in business who are concerned with forming more effective links with higher education in order to enhance their ability to recruit and retain graduates who best meet their needs. It is one of a series on collaboration between business and higher education which has the joint support of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Council for Industry and Higher Education.
