Publisher's Synopsis
Technological progress and the consequent convergence processes not only lead to profound changes in economy, politics and health care systems, but also in mass media and journalism. At the same time, social change processes such as the Demographic Change challenge modern societies, not only but particularly with regard to health care policy. Based on contributions to the second annual meeting of the ad-hoc group Health Communication of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Science (DGPuK) in November 2014 in Mainz, Germany, the volume reflects chances and challenges of Social Change for modern Health Communication from a communication science perspective. The focus is on theoretical approaches, health aspects in mass media presentations health-related online communication and information seeking and intended and unintended effects of health messages.
