Publisher's Synopsis
The articles in this volume focus on the Heidelberg Catechism, the 450th anniversary of which the Protestant churches are commemorating in 2013. On the one hand, historical insights into the genesis and theological profile of the catechism are discussed, and on the other hand, studies of the history of its effects, which span into the 20th century and also include the North American reception of the catechism. Another focus is on the current religious-educational perception of the catechism text and the question of religious education in the secular state.
