They include drilling failure insurance; loan guarantees; subsidised loans; capital subsidies; and government-led exploration. The book describes each policy type and its application in other countries and regions. It offers policy-makers a guide for drafting future geothermal support mechanisms for the exploration-drilling phase of geothermal development. The book also focuses on the design of Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) incentive policies for geothermal electric projects and how FITs can be used to reduce risks.
