Comprising three strands ("Story Street", "Genre Range" and "Info Trail") "Literacy Land" was written to match the genre and text types specified by the NLS and contains both fiction and non-fiction. As well as providing complete teaching support for each book, these notes also offer photocopiable activities for the books for students to practise independent writing and comprehension.;"Info Trail" is a range of text types which capture the excitement of the real world and build effective non-fiction reading skills. The texts are written specifically to provide examples of the recommended non-fiction text types in the National Literacy Strategy and to match the reading ability of infants. The books feature fun topics which appeal to children's curiosity and sense of humour and there is clear progression in language level and conceptual difficulty. In addition topics are linked to the QCA Programmes of Study for History, Geography and Science and complement the topics covered by 5-14 Environmental Studies Guidelines in Scotland.
