Generation Next: Becoming Socially Enterprising is a book for first year students taking a course on social enterprise or Social Entrepreneurship from an arts and humanities perspective. It explores the key themes of social justice, human rights and cultural awareness and provides an overview of issues, theories and practical knowledge that enable students to understand the world of the 21st century and to be equipped to participate as active citizens. The book is organised around three key questions: Why should I care?, What could I do?, and What should I know? It helps students explore their own responses to the challenges of the 21st century, as well as provide knowledge and a practical sense of what might be achievable. Case studies and interviews throughout the book help illustrate some of the principles discussed, as well as show examples of the possibilities of social enterprise.
