Publisher's Synopsis
This edition of the annually updated, "Generally Accepted Accounting Practice" incorporates the revision services of the preceding year. The 1999 students' edition is up to date to revision 32, issued in February 1999. It differs from the looseleaf edition only in that the accounting standards themselves, specimen financial statements and the sections of legislation are not included. The Students' edition follows the looseleaf edition in comprising two sections of text, the first the "older" section of the book, and the second section containing 'new pages', in a "friendlier" format, paginated by chapters. This reflects the steady phasing out of the old pages in the looseleaf edition, which is regularly updated. New chapters include the presentation of financial statements; earnings per share; the development of Statement of GAAP; revenue recognition; foreign currencies, banks and insurers; and segmental reporting. This publication enables students to understand the demanding technical requirements faced by the accounting profession.
