In April 1769, Colonel Andrew Lynn, Jr., applied to the commonwealth to have his tract of land, known as Crabtree Bottom, in the New Purchase surveyed. In August 22nd, of that year the survey was made. That was the first survey made under the laws of 1769 within the present limits of Fayette county.
