There are a lot of assumptions we live with, and the more familiar we become with things, the more assumptions we make. We become so accustom to our assumptions we forget the basics they were derived from. We need to get back to basics on a regular basis to make sure our walk with the Lord is what it should be. Maturity is not going out of the bounds of the basics, but making better application of the basics. The author has found several rules of interpretation that are really formal statements of basic reading fundamentals. These rules are applied to a variety of aspects of our relation to God in this book. Some of them are easily grasped, some are more surprising and different than many people assume. Some of the ideas presented here are hard in respect to how they are presented because of how important they are to our relation to God. Some are very confrontational, and will stir a lot of controversy. Many things Jesus said were very confrontational and controversial to the religious of that day. Several of the concepts presented here will be controversial to the religious of our day. The hope is that you will take these things and examine your life and judge yourself so that you are not judged. Some of the ideas presented are overstating the obvious; some will rouse and anger you. This book will challenge you to consider your relation to God in ways you may have never thought of before.
