Publisher's Synopsis

Lightning protection has been practised for more than 200 years but there is still a lack of an exact expression of the protective effects of the air terminations of lightning protectors. One of the most up to date problems is the protection of low voltage and electronic installation inside buildings. With the development of complex intelligent structures within buildings, their protection against lightning electromagnetic impulse (LEMP) is becoming increasingly important. This book with supporting CD helps to understand the propagation of waves in such installations and the operation of the protection systems. The computer program has been used to illustrate the special course "Lightning Protection" by the author, at the Budapest University of Technology. Over 100 students have chosen this subject in each semester. University professors have shown a positive interest in getting this course on the international conference circuit to illustrate their lectures. Along with the textual commentary it will be an excellent medium for individual study at home.
