Publisher's Synopsis
This is a language series directed towards the expectations of Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum as the activities are designed to provide practice in the skills and processes which have to be taught in order to meet the attainment targets. In two levels, with four books at each level, level 1 is aimed at a reading age 6 to 7 and level 2 at a reading age of 7 to 8.;The books are thematic in approach with the themes based on children's interests but are also linked across the levels so that they can progress from 1A to 2A instead of to 1B if desired. The aim is to motivate children from the very early stages of reading to develop their logical thinking and reasoning powers. For teachers there is a helpful checklist inside the cover of the principle language skills practised on each page.;Drawing and copying the pictures is also encouraged to aid hand and eye co-ordination and there is even a simple outline inside each cover for this purpose.
