From Monkey, Man to God is metaphorical, symbolizing a man's growth from a savage to a civilized state to a perfect being. In his book, the author J. Lazarus Muyet had termed the word "Monkeyism" to mean a collective psychological behavior pattern of imitating other people's vernacular, style of fashion and demeanor solely because everyone else around them is doing it. While this social behavior comes from the author's study while inside the penal system, it also reflects society as a whole.
