Publisher's Synopsis
These articles continue the work of the author collected in previous Variorum publications. They present detailed historical investigations into the sources and problems of the history of Late Antiquity, and argue for some of the groundwork assumed in the author's recent books.;Two studies in particular, one as yet unpublished, provide a far-reaching analysis of one of the key works of the early Church, Eusebius' "Life of Constantine". The relationships between paganism and Christianity, and between the secular powers and the Church form themes running throughout the book.
