Publisher's Synopsis

The Revolutionary War. In 1780, Continental Army scouts Asa Kelly and Zach Burns are posted to the Carolinas just in time to be on the field when the British, under General Cornwallis and "The Butcher" Banastre Tarleton, overrun the Patriot forces in the disastrous Battle of Camden. While searching for the shattered remnants of the army, the scouts come across Leslie, a fifteen-year-old runaway indentured servant girl from England. Later, on a cold January morning at the Cowpens, they join Daniel Morgan and the rebuilt Patriot army to meet Tarleton for a rematch. After returning north, the scouts march with General Washington as he bets everything on a dash to Virginia and a clash with Cornwallis at Yorktown. But Asa has one last matter to resolve: a final confrontation with the man who was once his leader and idol and is now a traitor - Benedict Arnold.
